A Duostor battery is a new type of battery that can store not only electrical energy, but also heat. Unlike regular home batteries, which only store electricity, the Duostor reuses the heat that is created during charging and discharging. This makes the system highly energy‑efficient. When a lot of cheap or sustainably generated electricity is available, the Duostor can store both electricity and heat. At times when energy demand and/or prices are high, such as in the morning or evening, the battery can release this stored energy again.
The idea behind Duostor is that heat makes up a large part of the energy consumption in homes. Existing batteries do not take this into account. Duostor aims to solve this by combining heat and electricity storage in one system.
